Kobayashi wins but Grosjean takes championship title.
Kamui Kobayashi won Sunday morning’s sprint race in Bahrain, but all eyes were on Romain Grosjean who claimed the very first GP2 Asia series title. Even though the Frenchman was unable to finish Petrov will not be able to score more points than Grosjean.
Kobayashi took over Grosjean’s first position and finished in first for the second time this year. The Japanese DAMS driver finished ahead of Trust Team Arden driver Sebastien Buemi and Vitaly Petrov. Grosjean scored one point for completing the fastest lap during the race. Grosjean is now 21 points ahead of Petrov and with only two races left it is impossible for Petrov to catch Grosjean in the championship.
Renault backed driver Romain Grosjean takes the GP2 Asia series title in only his first season and he promises an exciting season as GP2’s main series will get off in two weeks time at Circuit de Catalunya.
